Overview of Technology

‘Technology’ is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry. 

One of the great hallmarks of history is humans’ drive to create new procedures and things. Those interested in technology are encouraged to continue such progress – hopefully not to destroy civilization (e.g. misuse of atomic weapons) but to improve civilization (e.g. safer transportation, more affordable and user-friendly computers, equipment to mass produce vaccines). 

When reading the career stories within the technology category, obviously you will note that each of the procedures contributing to progress or ultimate inventions, have already been accomplished. But the point of the career stories within this library is to demonstrate that the individuals pursuing those technical advances saw an opportunity to be creative, persisted through challenges and thus improved the available technology.
