Be Elite – Be the Light
Autumn Lockwood, an Associate Performance Coach for the pro football (National
Football League) Philadelphia Eagles is one of several females working within the behind-the-scenes team to help make the on-the-field team a success.
In early 2025, she spoke to the NFL Women’s Forum about her personal work ethic behind several job promotions and her career satisfaction.
“I always go back to what I live by. You’re placed in a specific job for a reason, so be the light in that place. If you carry on with that and you have your own individual gift that is placed inside of you, you just let that be shared and you go on about your day, being there to serve those around you and become one of the special people. When you do that, special things will happen.”
Lockwood’s co-worker, Ameena Soliman, the Eagles’ Director of Football Operations and a pro scout for the team, added: “Whether it’s proofreading something, you are doing an elite job proofreading that document. If you’re watching a player, that is the fun stuff about scouting, what everybody wants to do, be elite. If you’re picking somebody up at the airport, you’re 10 minutes early.”
“All of those types of things are really important, and even though it might not feel like the coolest task associated with your job, that’s going to matter more than anything else does and just being incredibly detailed, incredibly making sure that you’re doing those things at a high level, I think honestly, is super important.”
