I Can Do It Better

How many times have you watched a presumed experienced person working and thought quietly to yourself – “I could do it better!”

Hopefully you added a modest additional thought – “I could do it better…. by learning more about it.”

If you had such a thought, don’t automatically abandon such thinking as impossible to achieve or too expensive or too time consuming or any other negative thought.

Of course, all career plans should be realistic, based on critical thinking – considering all known and believable facts, consulting others for their judgment, being willing to disagree with others and change your mind. But self-confidence to take a few steps at a time along a new path, is often a reasonable and great plan!

Another ‘Commentary’ within this Career Stories Library addresses the issue of following your passion – see COMMENTARY – “FOLLOW YOUR PASSION?!” which, briefly stated, concludes its ok to mix passion with a reasonable plan to learn well what you want to do. Please read that entire commentary to appreciate the free advice offered by people who have mixed passion and work to achieve success within their careers.

While preparing several hundred career stories for this collection, the Editor recalls at least three which illustrate a person observing someone doing a job and thinking that “I can do it better!” Then, after gathering actual knowledge about how to do a job better, they launched their new careers and achieved success and satisfaction.

These stories involve individuals who realized they could ‘do it better’ by learning some new skills:

HEALTHCARE – NURSE PRACTITIONER

HUMAN SERVICES – SOCIAL WORKER FOR MENTAL HEALTH

LAW – TRIAL ATTORNEY WITH VARIED CLIENTS

If you think you can do it better – with some training or further education – bet on yourself or better stated, invest in yourself to achieve your goal of an interesting career where you will do it better!
